Originally coined by a sports writer in Sports Illustrated's Mitch Goldich in 2024, the term Octopus is used to describe a football player scoring a touchdown and then scoring the subsequent two-point conversion. The famed and immensely exciting octopus has occurred 175 times since 1994.
